UAE Small Business Relief
0% corporate tax under AED 3m revenue — until 31 December 2029.
Under the FTA's Small Business Relief, a UAE resident company with annual revenue of AED 3 million or less can elect to be treated as having no taxable income — meaning 0% corporate tax for that tax period. The relief applies to tax periods ending on or before 31 December 2029.
- Revenue threshold: AED 3,000,000 or less in the current and all previous tax periods
- Must be elected in the corporate tax return — it is not automatic
- Registration, bookkeeping and filing obligations still apply
- Available until tax periods ending 31 December 2029
FAQ
UAE accounting, corporate tax and VAT: your questions answered
- Who qualifies for UAE Small Business Relief?
- UAE resident companies with revenue of AED 3,000,000 or less in the current and all previous tax periods can elect Small Business Relief and be treated as having no taxable income, for tax periods ending on or before 31 December 2029.
- Do I still need to file if I claim Small Business Relief?
- Yes. Corporate tax registration, bookkeeping and the annual return are still mandatory, and the relief must be elected in the return — it is not applied automatically.
- Is bookkeeping mandatory for a UAE free zone company?
- Yes. Since the introduction of corporate tax, every UAE company must keep accounting records and supporting documents for at least seven years, whether or not it owes tax.
- When do I have to register for VAT in the UAE?
- VAT registration is mandatory once taxable supplies exceed AED 375,000 in a 12-month period, and voluntary above AED 187,500. Returns are then filed quarterly or monthly depending on the registration.
- What happens if I file my corporate tax return late?
- The FTA applies administrative penalties for late registration, late filing and incorrect records. We track your deadlines and file on your behalf so those penalties never arise.
